WinStar Insurance Group LLC dba VFIS of Texas purchased the assets of Regnier & Associates, Inc. on October 1, 2016. The owners of WinStar Insurance Group are Barbara Marzean, Stephanie Dew and Glenn Hastings.
Regnier & Associates, Inc. was founded in May of 1982 by Cynthia Regnier and has been the Texas Regional Director for VFIS since 1985. In 1992, with the continued success and growth of the VFIS program, the agency chose to devote their time and resources exclusively to the VFIS program. With a 98% client retention rate, VFIS of Texas has developed a lasting relationship with the Emergency Service community.
WinStar Insurance Group LLC also dedicates our time insuring wineries, breweries, distilleries, water districts, private ambulances, & more and is dedicated to continuing the vision and commitment that Regnier & Associates, Inc. has provided for the past 34 years. We promise to continue to provide the high level of service that our clients have come to know and expect.
Barbara Marzean is the President of WinStar Insurance Group LLC. She began her insurance career in 1974 and joined Regnier & Associates, Inc. in 1985 as an account manager. She acquired a 20% interest in Regnier & Associates, Inc. and became the President in 2005. In October 2016, she along with Stephanie Dew and Glenn Hastings purchased the assets of Regnier & Associates, Inc. and formed WinStar Insurance Group LLC. Barbara holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation and successfully completed the IIAT Leadership Academy program. She is on the Board of the Texas Line of Duty Task Force and was honored with the Gary Tilton “Heroes, Legends & Leaders” Award in August 2014. Glenn Hastings, LUTCF Vice President
Glenn Hastings is the Vice-President for WinStar Insurance Group and has been involved in the VFIS program in the Houston area since 2001. Glenn has 24 years of insurance experience and over 31 years experience with emergency services. He was a Firefighter/Paramedic for the City of Houston Fire Department and is a life member of the Spring Volunteer Fire Association in Harris County, having also served as their Fire Chief. Stephanie Dew, CIC, CPCU Vice President of Sales & Marketing
Stephanie Dew is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for WinStar Insurance Group. She graduated from Brigham Young University and in 1997, began her insurance career within the public entity sector. Stephanie held various underwriting positions while obtaining the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designations. In 2004, she transitioned into a sales and marketing capacity and found her niche. Stephanie enjoys developing new programs, meeting new people and continuously learning. Tom Van Wyngarden joined the agency in 1999 after a successful career in sales. He graduated from Wartburg College with a BA in Business Administration in Waverly, Iowa. Gerrie Smith Sales Executive
Gerrie Smith is our Sales Executive for the territory encompassing Central Texas. She joined our team in 2006 and has over 40 years of insurance experience, including sales, service, and claim handling for both property & casualty and life & health coverage. She also has over 10 years experience with non-profit organizations and emergency services. Gerrie earned her EMT-B in 2009 and worked for a short time for Scott & White EMS. Marvin Vinson Sales Executive
Marvin Vinson joined the agency in 2004 to handle the East Texas area. Marvin is a Firefighter/ECA and has more than 30 years experience with emergency services. He is currently serving as President of the Rusk County Firefighters Association and also sells fire apparatus for Westex Custom Fire Apparatus. Marvin holds the following SFFMA Certifications: Firefighter 2 tested, Instructor 1, Driver Operator, Incident Safety Officer, Wildlife Certification, and Vehicle Extrication 2. Kash Sarkaria Digital Marketing Coordinator / Sales Executive
Kash is our social media & marketing specialist, handling everything related to digital marketing for the firm. Responsibilities also include designing and maintaining the website, creating newsletters, booking conferences & training, and other administrative functions. Roy Mercer Director of Training, Education, & Safety
Roy has worked with VFIS of Texas as a Trainer and Training Coordinator for over 16 years. He holds an A.A.S., Fire Technology and B.B.M. from LeTourneau University and has tenure of 36 years in the fire service with numerous certifications. Roy served as a Safety/Training Officer for City of Rosenberg Fire Department, Safety Director for Richmond State School, Business Manager for Fulshear Volunteer Fire Department and most recently a Battalion Chief/Professional Development (retired) for City of Sugar Land Fire Department. Bianca Nelson is our newest Account Manager and is a Texas native who recently moved back from Hawaii to settle in after life as a Military family. Bianca currently holds a Property & Casualty License and will begin working on her CIC designation in the near future.
